Mon ami Scot Wise me mentionnait en janvier qu'il avait obtenu de France un magazine commémorant les 100 ans de Django. Il me demandait si ce magazine était disponible à Montréal. En fait je suis tomber à la mi février. Excellent revue - un must... With Scot Wise on the phone, he brought this fact that there was a mag published in France, an excellent one i should look for - if i can find it here in Montreal. Took a few week to get...a great one.

• Very interesting Parisian context just out of the Second World War
• Passionate content from jazz enthusiast of those days
• Lot's of 78 rpm ads from the recording artists of the time (actual recording code), selection of the month...(like today's magazines).
• The publicity is perhaps of more interest than the articles...
• Advertisement for "Publications Francis-Day" of "Mélodie au Crépuscule" with lyrics from Riesner.
• Advertisement for "Publications Francis-Day" of "Douce Ambiance" with lyrics from Jacques Larue.
• There are jazz instrument lessons, the guitar is taken care by Roger Chaput in all issues.

Jazz Hot magazine have been covering Django in many articles over all their numerous issues. This one is interesting among others.

If you have articles from Jazz Hot covering Django,  I would greatly appreciate photocopies of these, sincerly. I love reading that stuff, as you can imagine.

En cherchant le magazine précédent je n'ai pu m'empêcher de me procurer cette édition de Jazz Magazine. Celle-ci comporte un segment historique que j'avais a l'époque cannibaliser du site web de Jazz Magazine (voir ici). Vous avez maintenant une magnifique copie papier de la légende de Django Reinhardt tel que raconte par Yves Salgues (1957-1958). I like those cover - a Django dedicated issue...never enough...though i'm starting to know Django's story...the pictures in those mags are always great to look at.

This is a specialized cultural magazine. They have covered over the years Django and Gipsy Jazz from all angles.

Jazz Swing Journal

This short life magazine managed by Patrick Saussois did not include lot's of Django related material but a good dose of Gipsy Jazz articles. Around 12 issues have been published some 10 years ago.
